Breaking down the do’s and don’ts of commercial roofing warranties
Building owners and facility managers often think of long-term warranty on a commercial roof as a means of buying peace of mind, but they’re often so riddled with exclusions that they cannot be relied upon for much more than a hedge against catastrophic failure.
Sometimes the longer a warranty’s duration, the weaker its coverage tends to be. When purchasing a commercial roof, it’s more prudent to focus on “what” the warranty covers – and get familiar with its exclusions – rather than just the length of its coverage terms.
