The Simon Roofing Difference Series: Part 1 Tablet Technology
Simon Roofing has been a family-owned and operated business for more than 120 years. Throughout that time, our company has constantly evolved in looking for innovative ways of offering our customers the very best possible products and service. Over the next several months, we’ll offer a series of blogs that take a deep dive into The Simon Roofing Difference.
Simon Roofing utilizes cutting-edge tablet technology to document safety measures and job performance, as well as improve safety, accuracy, and efficiency on all service calls.
Technicians follow a workflow built into our proprietary software that starts with safety. This program on the tablet prompts the technician to show proof that they are following safety requirements. The Simon Safety Team can monitor the technicians in real-time to ensure proper ladder safety and fall protection. Body harness and lanyard usage are monitored daily through photo documentation on the tablets. Drone inspections are also completed to ensure proper safety procedures are performed.
Technicians are trained to perform repairs by following an ISO process embedded into the tablet’s software program. These detailed instructions act as a quality control tool to ensure that all repairs are completed within our strict safety standards and that our technicians are using the correct materials and repair methods. This allows us to both provide warrantable repairs and tracking to keep call-backs to a minimum.
Our tablets are equipped with GPS technology to ensure our technicians are onsite when they say they are. This technology also locates the completed repairs on a satellite photo, which provides a record of exactly where the roof was repaired. By clicking on this pinned repair, the work order, invoice number and date of repair can be seen.
Once we have completed a repair of any active leak, our technicians look for any roof defects that may lead to future roof leaks. Our program quotes these preventive repairs and prepares a report for the customer. All of this is done automatically with speed and accuracy. Once preventative work is approved, the report and proposal appear on the technician’s screen to ensure that they are informed of the exact scope of work.
When our customers sign up for recurring maintenance, our system automatically flags the roof on its anniversary date and sets up a work order to schedule the job.
