SIMON ROOFING TIP

  Prepare Your Roof
   for an Emergency

As hurricane season reaches its peak, now is the time to make sure your facility and its roofs are prepared for the possibility of an emergency.

Simon Roofing recommends taking the following actions:

  1. Take an inventory of your existing roof.   This includes knowing what type of roof system you have, such as an EPDM or built up roof, as well as the the type and thickness of insulation and the type of decking. You will also need to know your roof's current condition. Doing this ahead of time will minimize your down-time and assure a speedy repair process.
  2. Make repairs to minimize extensive damage if a storm hits.   If there are loose flashings or missing coping, the roof is more vulnerable to wind and water, which means so is your facility.
  3. Know who to call when the threat of disaster becomes a reality.   For roofing and all your facility needs, make sure you have the numbers of reputable contractors and service providers.  Also make copies of warranties, facility designs and other pertinent documents.

Preparing before a storm or emergency will help to ensure a fast and speedy clean-up if disaster should strike.
